Time For the Saturday Review of Books!

It's time again for another Saturday Review of Books at Semicolon Blog! This is my sweet sisters' blog, and every Saturday, she gives us (book review bloggers) a chance to share with everyone the book reviews we have written for our blogs. I always find wonderful books there.

I encourage you to go over there and read all the great reviews that have been submitted. And, if you have a book review blog, feel free to add your own reviews there. I'd love to read them.

Tell Sherry I sent you!

Notable Blogs

Here are some book review blogs I have found just this week that you may like. Please go check them out and tell me what you think.

Tales of Whimsy - I have now added Pearl in the Sand to my TBR list after reading Whimsy's review!

Relz Reviewz - Looks like this blog is going to be dangerous to my TBR list as well. It just keeps getting longer and longer!

So Many Books - WOW, I saw books on this blog I never knew existed! How will I ever read them all?

Deb's Book Bag - This blog looks pretty eclectic, closer to the mix of books that I like to read.

My Buckling Bookshelf - I love the name of this blog!

Oh, boy. I might have to stop doing this. It's almost as dangerous as my job at the library because I see so many new books I want to read. OK, I surrender. I'll have to just enjoy the ride of reading and not try to read all the good ones I see!

Have you found any book review blogs to share? Please let me know in the comments.

Notable Blogs

I have come across some great posts from some interesting bloggers that I'd like to share with you:

Mary DeMuth - http://www.marydemuth.com/ - Mary shares with us 10 Reasons Why Christians Should Read Fiction. Thought-provoking.

Suzanne Woods Fisher - http://suzannewoodsfisher.blogspot.com/ - Suzanne interviews author B.J. Taylor and hosts a GIVEAWAY of the book The Complete Guide to Writer's Groups That Work.

Tim Challies - http://www.challies.com/ - Tim is giving away a copy of the movie Malatya. I'd also like you to see this post he wrote on What I Hate About Blogging. Very interesting!

And, at http://www.shereads.org/, Ellen Potter writes about The Big Fat Lie of the Author Bio. Funny!

What are some of your favorite blogs? Why do you like them? Please comment.

Great Reviews on a Great Blog!

No, this is not a plug for this blog, but for another wonderful blog. Every week, on Saturday, my sister allows us to post links to our reviews on her blog, Semicolon.

I usually get more books to add to my TBR list when I go to Semicolon and read the reviews. So, when you go, reader beware! You may find some good reading..... (Check it out. Then come back here and let me know about your new finds!)

Notable Blogs

I'd like to to introduce you to some of my online "friends". These book review blogs are ones I have enjoyed reading and I often find books to add to my TBR list.

Linus' Blanket: http://www.linussblanket.com/ - I like how this blogger reviews books, especially the creativity she shows (see June 29, 2010 post - Lost vs. Rowan The Strange: A Nerds Heart YA Showdown - for an example). I have added many books to my TBR list after reading this blog!

The Crowded Leaf: http://thecrowdedleaf.wordpress.com/ - First of all, I love the header on this blog. The pictures are so peaceful and beautiful. And I always see new books I have not seen before. Alayne seems to have the same tastes in books as I do.

Homespun Light: http://homespunlight.blogspot.com/ - Probably the best part about this blog (except maybe all the great baby photos!) is the reason Emily started this blog. She says: "I started this blog where anyone can recommend books as long as they are free of sex, profanity, and graphic violence." I admire her for doing this. Although I don't agree with her religious views (she is LDS), I like reading her reviews.

Book Chase: http://bookchase.blogspot.com/ - Most of the books that Sam reviews are ones that I would not normally pick up and read. However, I love reading blogs like this, bacause they stretch me and expand my normal reading boundaries, which, I think, is a good thing. I don't want to be caught in a rut. I believe I learn so much more by being an eclectic reader.

Please visit these blogs. And, could you share with me some book review blogs you have found and like to read? I always enjoy "meeting" new "friends".

Notable Blogs

I always love to come across new (to me) book review blogs. There are so many out there that are doing such a good job and I want to share some of these with you. So, occasionally, I will be telling you about these in posts entitled Notable Blogs. I hope you will visit these blogs and when you do, please tell them I sent you!

One of my favorite book bloggers is Carrie at Reading to Know. Carrie has "book reviews from a Christian wordview". She writes like she is talking to a friend over a cup of tea. Although I haven't met Carrie, I feel that she and I would get along very well together. I would love to meet her some day. Her blog is fun to read and I always find good book recommendations there. I want to be a blogger like Carrie when I "grow up"!

Another blog I love to read is Miss Remmers' Review. I like what she says on the header of her blog: ". . . to instill in students a passion for recreational reading". Miss Remmers is an English teacher who started her blog to tell her students about good books. This is how she describes her "mission": "I am constantly looking for a wide range of books to put in my classroom. My teaching philosophy is this: While I enjoy the 'classics' as much as any one else, I want to instill in young readers a passion for recreational reading. The only way to do this is to find books that students want to read, that they won't be able to put down, and that will leave them begging for more." Isn't that cool?

Do you know of other good book review blogs that you enjoy reading? Let me know in the comment section!
